About Photography Awesomesauce
Q. What are your hours?
A. My photography business is equally as important to me as Photography Awesomesauce and I have to divide my time in both places equally. Because shooting and editing weddings can be somewhat time consuming I typically spend one day per week getting blog posts ready for PA and one day per week doing behind the scenes projects. These days may vary, but it means I may not get to specific tasks right away (I do like to take a day off now and then). Other days of the week are reserved for editing and business tasks for my photography business.
My work hours are Tuesday – Friday between 10am and 5pm Mountain Time. I often times have weddings on Fridays so I typically do not respond to emails received after noon on Friday until the following Tuesday morning. I take Mondays off. Please give me at least 48 hours to respond to your emails on weekdays. It may take me longer over the weekends since I’m usually shooting weddings and sessions those days, followed by a day off. Thanks for understanding my need to balance my life with business (both businesses) and take some time to myself as well as my family I appreciate it.
Q. I am interested in advertising on Photography Awesomesauce, how can I begin that process?
A. Please email carrie(@)photographyawesomesauce.com if you are interested in advertising with Photography Awesomesauce. When creating a contract with an advertiser I am looking for someone who is advertising a service or product relevant to the photography industry only. Advertisements are sized at 150 x 150 pixels and run down the sidebar on all of our website pages. Advertising costs $30 per month and will be billed in 3 month increments. Advertisers are required to provide their own advertisement image and a link the image will lead to. Photography Awesomesauce sees approximately 200,000 visits per month and this amount is growing each month!
We do NOT offer text advertising opportunities.
Q. Do you accept guest blog posts?
A. A large number of my inquires about guest blogging come from advertisers hoping for a “free” chance to have their advertisement blog post blasted out to our growing number of subscribers who get my daily blog posts emailed to them. The focus of Photography Awesomesauce isn’t about products, it’s about information and as such we do not accept guest blog posts at this time.
Q. Who is behind the scenes at Photography Awesomesauce?
A. Me! I’m Carrie and I’m a wedding and portrait photographer in Denver. You can check out the >About< page to learn more about me. I started a photography business with no experience in photography except as a teacher. I have my degree and teaching license in art. I guess after owning my own photography business for awhile I still had that teaching itch and here I am teaching and helping other photographers grow their own businesses!
Q. I love your blog and would love to share an article of yours with readers of my blog? How can I do this?
A. Thanks for your interest! I so appreciate that you love Photography Awesomesauce enough to want to share it with others. Blog articles and all content at Photographyawesomesauce.com is copyrighted. If you’d like to share please share with a link and credit to our website. About Our Online Classes
Q. I registered/purchased a class that happened recently and I didn’t get the email with the recording.
A. You can find all previously recorded class links on our Online Classes Page of the website. Simply scroll down to the “previously recorded classes” section, look for your class and the ‘view’ link will be right next to the registration information. You’ll need to use the login information you created when you originally registered to login and view your class.
Q. I’m listening to the recording of the class. I can see everything you’re sharing on the screen, but I can’t hear anything.
A. Sometimes our software from Anymeeting will have a glitch. If you can’t hear the class and you’ve already checked to make sure your volume was on and not on mute and that your computer audio system is working, you’ll want to log out and log back in again and usually from there it works.
Q. I’m in the middle of a class right now and I can’t hear you very well or the screen looks pixelated.
A. Usually this happens when your internet connection to view the class is lagging or a bit slow. If you are a wireless user plug directly into your router and this should help. If you don’t use wireless you may want to turn off other applications on your computer that are using internet access or you’ll want to watch the recording later.
Q. There’s a class I’m really interested in, but I can’t come at the time that’s listed, what can I do?
A. All of our online classes are recorded. If you won’t be able to attend, you’ll still want to register so you have a spot reserved and you’ll be able to watch the recording later. Each class has a maximum amount of attendees that can register to watch it live or watch the recording.
Q. Do I have to share my webcam or be on the microphone to participate during a live class?
A. Nope! All you need is a computer with a good internet connection. You’ll be interacting in the class through a live chat application where you can type messages and questions throughout the class. Class attendees are not able to use webcam or microphones.
About Our Products
Q. Are your photography contracts reviewed by a lawyer?
A. Yes they are! There are lots of opportunities to purchase contracts online from all different types of resources. I think a basic contract should be affordable and reviewed by a practicing lawyer. Sure, you could purchase contracts from someone with a law degree, but unless they’ve been in practice for a number of years they won’t have the experience that an experienced practicing lawyer does at evaluating a contract. My contracts are the exact ones I use for my very own business and have been reviewed by a practicing lawyer in Colorado. Even though they have been reviewed by a lawyer in Colorado I strongly recommend that no matter where you decide to purchase contracts you have your own lawyer review them to ensure they are right for your state, city, county, or even your country and ensure that they will hold up in the courts of wherever you are located. Contracts should also be reviewed to ensure they are specific to your business type as well.
Q. I can’t get my products to download, help?
A. There are many reasons your download may not work. These files download automatically sometimes depending on how your computer is set up. If you are clicking your download link and it says it’s already expired, check your downloads folder to see if the file is already there. Some files are word documents and others are PDF files and thus they may not be downloadable directly to your iPad without an app to read PDFs or word documents. If you still can’t get your files to download please email me and I’ll do the best I can to help or I’ll renew your download link so you can try again.
Q. What file types are your documents, ebooks, and other products?
A. All of our editable documents like contracts are word documents. All other files and ebooks are PDF files.
Q. I purchased some digital downloads and haven’t received them yet. Where are they?
A. Provided your payment goes through all products are digitally delivered to you within minutes of finishing your order. If you do not receive an email with your products please be sure to check your junk or spam folders in the email address you purchased with. Often times missing products are hiding in there since the email arrives from a place your email address doesn’t recognize and contains multiple links. That causes many email companies to categorize our emails as spam.
Q. Help! I can’t get my ebook to download onto my iPad!
A. Our ebooks are PDF files so you’ll need to download an app on your iPad, Kindle, or other e-reader that allows you to read PDF files.
Q. Are you going to put out a new posing guide soon?
A. Although I’m a portrait and wedding photographer there are some types of photography that I don’t have a lot of experience with, like family photography. I don’t photography families and therefore without that experience I hesitate to sell any sort of guide that would tell you how to photograph or pose families. I am currently working on a number of products though related to other types of posing or posing guides that will be released this coming Winter 2012-2013.
Q. Are you going to write a (insert type of photography or business topic) book, posing guide, business guide soon?
A. Photography Awesomesauce is certainly one of my passions, but when the regular photography season is at its busiest I am focusing my time on my clients. That means that between April and October most of my free time with photography is spent photographing, editing, booking clients for the next year, and meeting with my current clients to do gallery viewings. Once this busier part of the year is over I have more time to focus on writing my ebooks and guides for Photography Awesomesauce. You can expect new products to generally be released in the late Fall, Winter, or early Spring.
Q. Do you mentor other photographers?
A. Yes! I do mentoring sessions all the time and these can be tailored to your specific needs. I offer one time personal mentoring sessions with just you and I as well as larger group workshops, and even mentoring a combo of both. I also do long term mentoring programs that you can sign up for and over 3 months we’ll really get down to the nitty gritty of your business and set it up in a way that will work best for you.
